Dead Poet's Society Response

My philosophy on life is that you should live everyday as if it were your last. I do not want to have any regrets in life. Life is all about having fun and enjoying yourself. I don't like to dwell on things that have aready happened because I can't do anything to change them. Have fun and live everyday to the fullest, experience whatever you can in the short amount of time that you are given, and travel to far away places to discover the unknown. I agree that the "carpe diem" philosophy is the best because it sums up everything that I believe in is important. Life isn't about working or stressing, it's about having a wonderful time. This philosophy allows people to understand how important life really is and how they need to make the most out of it. I somewhat do believe that Neil's suicide was because of this philosophy. However, Neil took his teacher's statement to an extreme level. His dad wanted to put him in military school and Neil thought that this would be a waste of 10 years of his life. I think he felt trapped, as though he couldn't do what he wanted to do with his life. I think that he killed himself because he thought that he would no longer be able to fulfill his dreams. Neil took the philosophy to dangerous levels that I don't think was good of him to do. The term "carpe diem" is the best to let people understand how important life truly is.
